The C-72T, C-168T, K-144T, and K-168T platforms reached their End of Availability on January 30, 2023. End of Platform Support (EoPS) is January 30, 2028.
This page is reference material (drive bay layout) for the C-72T, C-168T, K-144T, and K-168T platforms. For replacement procedures, see Replacing Hardware Components.
The C-series and K-series 1U platforms share a common chassis but differ in drive count and NIC speed:
| SKU | Family | SSDs | HDDs | NICs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C-72T | C-series | 4 Γ 480 GB | 12 Γ 6 TB | 2 Γ 25 GbE |
| C-168T | C-series | 4 Γ 960 GB | 12 Γ 14 TB | 2 Γ 25 GbE |
| K-144T | K-series | 3 Γ 800 GB | 12 Γ 12 TB | 2 Γ 10 GbE |
| K-168T | K-series | 3 Γ 800 GB | 12 Γ 14 TB | 2 Γ 10 GbE |
HDD Top-Load Drawer (12 bays)
All four SKUs share the same 12-HDD top-load drawer arranged in a 3 Γ 4 grid. Bays are numbered left-to-right, top-to-bottom β bays 1β4 are at the back, bays 9β12 at the front.

Front SSD Bays
The chassis has 4 front-facing SSD slots (Bay 13 through Bay 16).

NIC Ports
The Qumulo C-series platform uses a networking configuration where both back-end and front-end traffic are handled by the same NIC. Each node has 2 NIC ports on the rear of the chassis (plus a separate IPMI port).
NIC card (rear)
+---------+
| Port 1 | <- top
+---------+
| Port 2 | <- bottom
+---------+
Linux interface names depend on NIC manufacturer (C-series uses Mellanox; K-series uses Intel):
| NIC Manufacturer | Port Location | Port Label |
|---|---|---|
| Mellanox | Top | 1 (eth3) |
| Mellanox | Bottom | 2 (eth4) |
| Broadcom | Top | 1 (eth0) |
| Broadcom | Bottom | 2 (eth1) |
Donβt use the LAN On Motherboard ports. Only use the external NIC ports for connections.
For reliability, both ports on each node should be connected. If a single connection fails, the node will be unavailable.
Boot Drive
The boot drive is on the rear panel in the bottom row, which has 2 slots. The boot drive is located on the lower of the two slots available.
Before removing the boot drive, reach out to care@qumulo.com for additional instructions on how to proceed.
